SMOKE the Detector!

A friend of mine was given this little fella by his neighbor, only to find out he couldn't keep him. They had only had him for a day or so when he thought to ask if I wanted a kitten. As I was on the market for a furry companion to watch my stuff while I'm at work, I said I would love to take him. After work that evening, we met at his house, made the introductions, packed the few little things he had already acquired and headed to his new home. On our way home, there came a haze on the road, which turned out to be smoke and he was at full point. He was standing at the passenger door of my car, staring down a street as we passed, and not just looking, but trying to go down that street. Curious about what was so important, I turned around and went back. As we rolled slowly down the street I realized that he had found the source of the smoke we were driving through. There was a house on fire. And it appeared that no one had called 911 or anything yet, as there was no one outside. I grabbed my phone and dialed. The operator said help was on the way. Shortly after I got off the phone, I heard the sirens and a few neighbors made their way out of their houses to investigate. One of them told the firefighters that the homeowners were out of town for the week, so luckily no one was hurt. It turns out, SMOKE saved their house from total devastation and for the most part, everything was saved. It started in the garage and was stopped before it got into the main house. My SMOKE is a HERO, and he's barely 9 weeks old.
