Isis

My husband and daughter are well-versed in ancient Egyptian culture, so naturally when we adopted a cat we wanted to name her accordingly. Since the ancient Egyptians worshiped cats, we planned to name her Bastet, after the cat goddess. However, when we decided on the scared little tuxedo cat at the shelter, she didn't look much like a Bastet, so we changed her name to Isis. Isis is the goddess of magic and something about this name seemed perfect for our cat. She started responding to her new name almost immediately, so we definitely made the right choice!
