The name is from The Hustler. Fast Eddie Felson, Paul Newman's character, is a pool hustler who goes up against the best - Minnesota Fats played seriously by Jackie Gleason. Bert Gordon, played by George C. Scott, coaches Fast Eddie before the mach. This is where the name "Fast Eddie" REALLY comes from...but I wasn't remembering this when I named my cat - the name just sounded cool...
