I have a kitten; yin-yang.

I have a kitten; yin-yang. She is a tuxedo with full white paws, chest, belly, and chin. She has a perfect white spot on her shoulder blade, and a perfect black dot on her front right paw. So I thought the name was fitting.

The concept of Yin and Yang is from Chinese philosophy but has been adopted for brief periods by other eastern cultures.

Yang is the predominately white portion of the taijitu (the Taoist symbol for yin and yang, most recognized in western cultures. It is recognized as the circle with equal parts of black and white in counterbalance) Yang represents the sun, fire, sky, and masculinity.

Yin is the predominately black portion of the taijitu. It represents the moon, water, earth and femininity

Instead of being considered opposing forces, they are actually complimentary to each other. Examples include sun/moon, fire/water ect.
