Seabiscuit, a Winner and Survivor

Cat's Name:

Seabiscuit was a stray who wandered into our yard in the summer of 2005. He was so sweet, loveable,& friendly, but would run away when I tried to catch him to take him to the shelter where I volunteer to be put up for adoption (non-destroy shelter) I finally caught him, took him to be fixed up, and they decided he was unadoptable...scrawny, infested with just about every kind of parasite, frostbitten ear (we live in MI), injured eye, and they had to extract all of his teeth. Also, they determined he was too old. So, they fixed him all up, and I brought him home with our other 2 rescues. I was reading the book, Seabiscuit, that summer. This cat reminded me of the famous racehorse who was a winner in spite of the odds. My Seabiscuit was a survivor and winner, in spite of the odds of staying alive during all the Michigan winters he had to endure. And, like the racehorse, he is extremely affectionate and loveable. The racehorse was adored by people living through difficult times (depression), and my Seabiscuit rescued me during a difficult time when I was having serious health issues.
