'Quincy" The tuxedo scaredy cat.

Cat's Name:

I got 'Quincy' as a 9 1/2 week baby in the spring of 2004. The Humane Officer couldn't pick up this injured kitten so I went in her place, I have been volunteering for the Portage APL since 1998 and fostering since 2002. He was in terrible condition, his right rear foot was hanging by a strip of skin and his ear was chewed up, we think he was attacked by a racoon. He also aseptic,an infection that had spread throughout his body. He went to the vet and had his leg amputated then came back to my house to recover. I spent 3 days, checking him every 2-3 hours, round the clock. I had to give him antibiotics, sub-Q fluids and syringe feed him. He also needed help using the litter box, his first couple of stools consisted of bug parts since at his age that is all he knew how to catch. He eventually recovered and turned out being a major scaredy cat. He was very attached to myself and my husband so we decided to keep him. He would run upstairs and hide under the bed covers if someone walking by on the sidewalk and said hi kitty. Alos none of our house sitters ever saw him no matter how long they were at our house. I named him 'Quincy', after Jack Klugman's character on the show Quincy M.E. Jack Klugman had survived a battle with throat cancer and went on to continue his acting career, also I name my foster kittens alphabetically, starting with 'A' for the first litter of the year and I happened to be on 'Q' when I got him. He was my baby, even though he weighed 17 pounds, even withhis leg that was amputated at the hip. He would sneak onto your lap and you wouldn't even notice him. Unfortunately we lost him to kidney lymphoma in 2010 at the age of 6 years. I had a litter of foster kittens when he was euthanised and my husband decided we needed to adopt 'Kristian' but that is another story. He is with a mini me foster kitten the picture.
